Saige Has a Blog!! (+An Invitation! Summery)

Hey friends!
My good friend Saige (you might have seen her in some of my posts), has a blog now!!! It's called Stylish Saige because Saige is stylish, what can I say? Here's the link: http://stylishsaige.blogspot.com/
Go check it out!! If you're curious on what Saige's life is like, then this blog is perfect for you :)

Oh, and if you we're wondering about the birthday party from here, well. The party ended up being at the local ranch we were supposed to be volunteering at! Crazy, huh? Actually it wasn't that surprising since Saige loves horses, but Angie and I flipped when we found out. It just shows how small this world really is :)

Soooo....Saige + Blog.... GO SEE

An invitation! (part 1)

I went to the mailbox today for the mail, and there, popping out inside, was a pink envelope! And it was addressed to Angie and me!

I ran all the way home and jumped on my bed and called Angie. I said something like, "Angie, get over here! We got a letter!" She was besides me in ten seconds flat (you might've noticed by now that we don't get letters very often).

I tore open the letter, revealing the cutest little invitation card.

Angie and I both breezed over invitation, barely holding our excitement in. Then came the squeals, the jumping up and down, and the rapid, incessant chatter. We were invited to Saige's birthday party!

Then, the questions began.
"What are we going to get her?"
"What should we bring?"
"Who should write the card?"
"What are we going to wear?"

You see, Angie and I get very excited over parties (especially if it includes hanging out with friends, playing games, and of course, cake).

We were talking and talking, then suddenly Angie sobered down. "Carla, is our schedule even open on the day of the party?"

I stopped. We both stared at each other, then a sudden recollection hit us.
The day of the party was on Saturday.
And on Saturday  we had promised to visit a local ranch and help out with the horses.

Suddenly, Angie and I found ourselves in a tough spot.

A Rainy Day Picnic

Today was a rainy day, one of those days where you just want to snuggle up in a blanket with a book.
And that's exactly what I did.

I was on the third or fourth page when Angie interrupted me. She seemed pretty excited, like she had an idea that she wanted to tell me (which she usually has).
"Hey Carla! Let's have a picnic!"
I looked at her like she was crazy. "Angie, it's raining cats and dogs outside."
"Oh Carla," she shook her head, exasperatingly. "An indoor picnic."

That sounded like fun. "Great idea!" I said.
"I'll get the food, and you get the blanket." Angie instructed, and we both ran around to get everything.

I headed to the kitchen, and saw some sesame biscuits my mom had just baked cooling on the table. They smelled so good-- our mom is the second-best cook I know. The first is my grandma.
I took a few of the biscuits, and a piece of beef pie, and put it in a little tin pail for a basket.

Meanwhile, Angie went to the blanket drawer, and found a pretty purple plaid blanket. It was just the right size, and so she took it and brought it to our bedroom. We decided to have our picnic there, so she spread it on the ground.

I met her in our room, and immediately we sat down to enjoy our little feast. We didn't talk much-- we were too busy eating. Everything was so good, and somehow, food tastes better when you're eating it in a different place then your kitchen table (in my opinion). After we ate everything up, we talked and argued and joked around like we usually do when we are together, and it was a good time.

When we were full and satisfied and happy, we flopped down on the blanket and took a nap. It was dark outside, so we fell asleep fast. Usually I don't take naps, because I can't bear to when the sun is shining and the birds are chirping and everything feels so alive outside, but since it was raining I decided that it was okay.

When we woke up a little later, it had stopped raining. But that dreary feeling still hung about in the air, so Angie and I climbed onto our bed, and just talked for awhile. It felt good to share with my sister, for sisters can be the best of friends, can't they? Like my grandpapa says, we "eat together, work together, and play together." We're stuck in the same house whether we like it or not, and it's better to just make the most of it. Besides, Angie really is an awesome sister, and I'm sure that there's a gem in every sibling, sometimes you just have to look hard to see it. But it's there.

Here's the one thing that ties everyone together: love.
Show some love to someone today.

A Scrap of Spring

Hullo friends! This is Saige Rosalie here, guest posting for Carla and Angie. Carla and Angie have taken a long break from blogging for quite some time now, but they're soon coming back, ready to share some new adventures with you! They asked me to post because they've been too busy to lately, but trust me, they have a lot of good stuff to share with you in the future! So stay tuned.

Anyway, since spring is here, I wanted to share with you my little paisley headband. It's like a scrap of spring-- colorful, flower-filled. It's my favorite hair accessory right now, because it adds a pop of color and pattern to any simple outfit. I'm all about saving time, so when I go out the door, I just tie on on this headband and it immediately collects my look.

What is your favorite spring accessory?

Visiting the Animal Rescue Center

Today Angie and I visited our community animal rescue center! Angie helps out there, but I've never gone before because I'm usually at art lessons. But today art was cancelled, so I went with Angie to help out.

There were a lot of animals there, mainly dogs and cats. I fell in love with all of them immediately-- they were so cute!  And they had the sweetest names. A cat named Buttercup and a puppy named Rosie? How adorable is that?

Our Aunt Sandie, who is also the manager of the place, gave us odd little jobs to do. We fed the animals, helped groom some, and we played with them. At first, the animals were a little  distant, especially towards me,  but by the end we were all romping about, and they were perfectly at ease. I don't know what all these animals have been through, but I do know that they all deserve a good home. In fact, I was tempted to take one or two of them home with me.

Most of the animals knew Angie, and cuddled up by her immediately. Evidently, she was a personal favorite among them.

By the end of the day, we were tired out. But helping out had been so worth it. We had bonded so much with the animals that they were now snuggling onto our laps with no reserve.

I guess I never truly realized how "A dog is a man's best friend" until after spending a day at the rescue center.

Just an afterthought... Angie and I felt drawn to one animal in paticular while we were at the rescue center. But we can't adopt another animal! What would Snowbell say...

Spread the love,

A Window View (An Angie Post)

Today I was looking through the window, admiring all the snow. It snowed a little today and more is supposed to be coming. Both Carla and I love snow--I especially love watching it fall. The house feels so cozy when the fire's on, and all you can see is white outside.

I was watching the snowflakes fall onto our front yard when I saw a blue speck in the blanket of white.
It was Carla, who looked up and waved at me. She was shouting something and motioning at me, so I opened the window to hear what she had to say.
"Angie, come out!" she called. "I'm building a snow fort, and I need your help."

"Where is it?" I asked. My eyes had to get adjusted to the snow first, then I made out a little fort, which Carla had evidently been working on, block by block. It looked a little like an unfinished igloo.
"Angie, are you coming or not?"

"I'm coming!" I answered, cheerfully. I closed the window, bundled up and headed outside. Carla and I had so much fun in the snow today, but personally I think my favorite part was coming in for hot cocoa afterwards.

What's your favorite part of a snow day?

Decorating for Valentine's Day!!

Today Angie and I decided to redecorate our room for Valentine's Day!

We took down all of our old decorations and brought in every pink thing we owned. I found a pink table, and Angie brought in some lanterns and other knick-nacks we had. I also brought in my DIY Valentine's Day Heart Garland.

We had a lot of stuff so we decided on a game plan.
"I'll work on arranging all the pink stuff. You hang up the garland and re-do the bed," Angie instructed. Whenever we do organizing or redecorating, I usually let her take the lead. She's really good at instructing people on those type of things. Me... not so much.

Angie cleaned the table and began putting things where they belonged.

I started hanging up the garland. I decided to place it above our bed, because I thought it would look nice on the blank, white wall.

The whole process shouldn't of taken more then thirty minutes, but Angie and I took an hour. That's because we weren't just working. We were singing love songs, talking, cracking jokes (that aren't really funny to anyone else but us), and just being plain silly. Angie usually keeps a steady face but she's good at making me laugh. Our mom came up because she could hear the laughing all the way from downstairs.

Finally, we finished. The room looked so festive and sweet.
It's very... pink... but hey, it's Valentine's Day! Overall, we're very happy on how it turned out.

I love decorating, for Christmas or for Valentine's Day-- it just makes the holiday feel more special.  Also, seeing pretty, colorful decorations around the house makes me happy, too. My mom saw this as a way to get Angie and me clean up our room.

Have you put up any Valentine's Day decorations yet?
