Decorating for Valentine's Day!!

Today Angie and I decided to redecorate our room for Valentine's Day!

We took down all of our old decorations and brought in every pink thing we owned. I found a pink table, and Angie brought in some lanterns and other knick-nacks we had. I also brought in my DIY Valentine's Day Heart Garland.

We had a lot of stuff so we decided on a game plan.
"I'll work on arranging all the pink stuff. You hang up the garland and re-do the bed," Angie instructed. Whenever we do organizing or redecorating, I usually let her take the lead. She's really good at instructing people on those type of things. Me... not so much.

Angie cleaned the table and began putting things where they belonged.

I started hanging up the garland. I decided to place it above our bed, because I thought it would look nice on the blank, white wall.

The whole process shouldn't of taken more then thirty minutes, but Angie and I took an hour. That's because we weren't just working. We were singing love songs, talking, cracking jokes (that aren't really funny to anyone else but us), and just being plain silly. Angie usually keeps a steady face but she's good at making me laugh. Our mom came up because she could hear the laughing all the way from downstairs.

Finally, we finished. The room looked so festive and sweet.
It's very... pink... but hey, it's Valentine's Day! Overall, we're very happy on how it turned out.

I love decorating, for Christmas or for Valentine's Day-- it just makes the holiday feel more special.  Also, seeing pretty, colorful decorations around the house makes me happy, too. My mom saw this as a way to get Angie and me clean up our room.

Have you put up any Valentine's Day decorations yet?

DIY Valentine's Day Heart Garland

Hi everyone!! Today I have for you a super cute tutorial... how to make a heart garland!  Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, (I know, it just seemed like Christmas!) this will be perfect for those of you who like to decorate. (Girls, come on. Who can resist a heart themed Valentine's Day garland perfect for hanging over your bed?)

What you'll need:
String, scissors, hot glue gun, & lots of paper

So the first thing you want to do is cut out your paper hearts. I like to cut them into all different sizes. Use lots of different paper! I used scraps of paper left over from scrapbooking, since I like to save and recycle!

Cut a lot of hearts, the more, the merrier!

Get your string, and cut it to the desired length of the garland.  I left mine long, because I have a special purpose for this garland...

Spread a piece of paper on the table, which will serve as your disposable tablecloth.
Take your glue gun and put a drop of hot glue onto the string. Then quickly, before the glue dries, get one of your hearts and push it securely into the glue. The heart might stick to your paper, but you can get it off carefully. Keep repeating this process until you've glued as many hearts as you wish onto your string.

And you are finished! You have a super cute garland that is very versatile in the ways it can be hanged. Perfect for a photoshoot or simply a pretty decoration for your home! If you're like me and love to decorate, then this garland is perfect for you. Enjoy!

Studying

Today, after studying most of the morning, I decided to take a break and get some fresh air. It's been super cold lately, and there were icicles on the trees.

I climbed my favorite tree and looked around. The sky was a greyish-white, everything was quiet and calm. The only noise I heard was the sound of the water from the icicles dripping off the trees.

Although I would choose being outside over schoolwork any day, I knew I couldn't stay out forever. So I went inside to finish my schoolwork.  Sometimes it's good to take a break, and get some fresh air. When I'm outside, the air clears my head and I always return back to what I was doing with better spirits. So next time you feel clusterphobic, or you just need a break, get a breath of fresh air! It always helps me and I'm sure it will help you, too.

Back to hitting the books!

Apologies & HAPPY 2014!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! Sorry that I haven't posted in a while-- I got caught up in the spur of the holidays and got really off track. But I'm back now, and I've decided that I'm going to gradually finish my 12 Days of Christmas Craze tutorials, because I love them all and just didn't have the time to post (just pretend that they're regular DIYs). I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!!! Can't believe it's already 2014!!

Love,
Carla
